The world’s largest egg belongs to the Elephant Bird, a giant bird that lived on Madagascar before going extinct sometime between the 13th and 17th centuries. It is larger even than any known dinosaur egg. It sold at auction early in 2013 for $101,813.
The vervain hummingbird lays the smallest, less than 0.39 in. in length and weighing about 0.0128 oz.
